The basis for the establishment of the City Museum of Vinkovci on November 7, 1946 was a collection of collector Mate Medvedović which the city government purchased in 1942. The first exhibition was realized in 1948 with the archaeological material, and two years after moving into today’s facility in 1950 permanent exhibition with the exposed material from prehistory to 1945 is opened. During the Homeland war the building was damaged, but the most of the museum collection was moved in Varaždin. Over the years, around 1,500 items have been exhibited as the intersection of traditional heritage, and in the central multimedia area of the Permanent exhibition was held over 100 events and various events.
