Until the sixties of the 20th century, matches in Osijek were held on the playground “Kraj Drave” (“Near the Drava”). Since the sixties matches have been played at the stadium “Gradski vrt” (“Municipal garden”), when the club was named “Proleter” (“Proletarian”). The first match on the Gradski vrt stadium was played against the players from Tuzla on September 7, 1958. The restoration and reconstruction of the stadium began in 1977, when a new, upper west stand was built and the lower west and east stands were reconstructed. The stadium was officially opened three years later for visitors and supporters, and two years after its opening, the stadium was visited by 40,000 people at the match between Osijek and Dinamo.
