The City Tower and Clock
A reddish tower with the city clock rising above the other buildings is one of the most famous symbols of Rovinj. It is located on the town square near the Califfi Palace. It was built in the 12th century and was once part of the city walls. The mere clock dates back to the 14th century, while the tower is known for its large Venetian lion, a symbol of Serenissima, located under the clock. On the same square, there is a small fountain with the radius of about 30 square meters. The first floor features the headquarters of the Istrian Democratic Assembly, while the ground floor shop hosts the women’s clothing.
