Lim bay (Istria)
Located within the Lim Fjord, the Lim Bay is certainly one of the most beautiful landscapes. The bay was formed millions of years ago from the estuary of the dried up river Pazinčica. It is believed that the Lim Bay was named after the Latin word limes (limit), because it was the boundary between the present-day Vrsar and Rovinj. The bay consists of many bights. It is interesting to say that the Lim bay ends on the so-called Lim buttocks. The Lim bay was used to shoot a 1958 movie The Vikings, for which a Viking village was built.
