The former village of fishermen and sailors located in the vicinity of Labin, in the second half of the 20th century, become a famous tourist center. The beauty of the landscape, pleasant beaches, clean sea and rich cultural heritage are the main characteristics of tourism development in Rabac. Tourist values of Rabac were discovered by the English writer and traveler Richard F. Burton back in 1876, and described in the book called “The Coast of Istria”. The first hotel Quarnero was opened in 1889. In 1907, the Austro-Hungarian Archduke Ferdinand vacationed there. The Hotel Trieste, which later changed its name to Primorje, was built in 1925. Around mid-thirties of the 20th century,the hotel “Dopolavoro”, today Adriatic, was built. By the end of the 20th century, several hotels were built, together with a tourist resort and a camp, and Rabac was nicknamed The Pearl of the Kvarner Bay”. During summer, in Rabac there are around 11,000 tourists. The most common foreign tourists are Germans, Austrians, Italians and British.
Since it is a small town, Rabac does not have a lot of attractions to offer such as Rovinj and Dubrovnik. However, it boasts on a multitude of beautiful beaches, all of which have been awarded with the Blue Flag, marking the high quality water. Along the entire promenade you can find a lot of bays that are crowded with tourists. Apart from the crystal clear waters of the beaches, there are many restaurants, various activities for children and even activities such as miniature golf and an adrenaline park. Top sights and attractions that we recommend you to visit are: Girandella Beach, Lanterna Beach, Oliva beach, Walking Path.
Rabac is not the first place you should be considering if searching for a place for the wildest atmosphere, but there is something special in its offer. In the local cafés, the staff is very friendly, they will welcome you with a warm small and provide you with the best possible service to help you feel more comfortable.
To get a better impression of Rabac, you need to try out its cuisine and delicious dishes offered by its restaurants. The cuisine would not good if there was no delicious seafood such as mussels, sardines, shrimp and anchovies. In addition to that, you can try the pork loin and sausages, fritters, wild asparagus, pasutice with cod fish and meat under the bell that will dazzle you with its flavor.

Scams in Rabac
During your stay in Rabac, you do not have to be afraid of frauds and theft, because Croatia is a safe country, and you will be safe in it. You will rarely see a thief or a criminal running from the police in the street because they are almost no such occurrences. Also, as far as the retailers in Croatia, people are very friendly, sometimes they are even willing to negotiate the price, but they will definitely not try to trick you.
The only thing you should be careful about is when you are driving with a taxi make sure that the taxi driver turns on the taximeter, because they are obliged to do that but sometimes they “forget” and charge you more then they should.
Croatia boasts on numerous private taxis who are always there for you. In some cities, from your accommodation place to your destination it will take you 20kn/5 km, which is more than affordable. The friendly staff will show you a place where something is, explain where you can find something or simply answer your questions.
The entire Croatia has a highly developed and modern bus transportation. Affordable, friendly staff, comfortable seats and wifi in some. Simply enough for a pleasant journey.

If you wish to afford a solid holiday in Croatia, here are a few tips. Please note that prices are different in different parts of the country, but the difference is not that big. For a single person’s seven days’ stay in Rabac it takes about 1050 HRK (140 EUR) for accommodation, 700 HRK (90 EUR) for food, 550 HRK (70 EUR) for pocket money and a few souvenirs.
