Šibenik guide

Šibenik, which is the centre of Šibenik–Knin County, is located in central Dalmatia where the river Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. This city is a political, social, transport, industrial and tourist centre of Šibenik–Knin County, which stretches along the coast between Split and Zadar. Initially, Šibenik was an old Croatian fortress located beneath St. Michael fortress. The city was mentioned for the first time under its present name in 1066 in a Charter of the Croatian King Petar Krešimir IV. The city was given the status of a town in 1167, and received its own Diocese in 1298. What set the trade and maritime affairs in motion was the Channel of St. Ante. At its entrance is the Renaissance fortress of St. Nicholas, which is, along with St. Michael fortress, St. John fortress and Šubićevac, the symbol of the brave town of Šibenik.

        Scams in Šibenik

During your stay in Šibenik, you do not have to be afraid of frauds and theft, because Croatia is a safe country, and you will be safe in it. You will rarely see a thief or a criminal running from the police in the street because they are almost no such occurrences. Also, as far as the retailers in Croatia, people are very friendly, sometimes they are even willing to negotiate the price, but they will definitely not try to trick you.

The only thing you should be careful about is when you are driving with a taxi make sure that the taxi driver turns on the taximeter, because they are obliged to do that but sometimes they “forget” and charge you more then they should.
