Dominican Monastery (Ptuj-Slovenia)
The most represented Catholic order in Slovenia are the Dominicans, who settled in this monastery in 1231. The Dominicans were involved in a variety of activities such as sermons and educations and are famous for their rich archives and libraries. This monastery is easily recognizable due to the cloisters in its east wing. The monastery had once been destroyed in a fire, but was rebuilt and refurbished through the centuries. The results of the many refurbishments can be seen on its beautifully graced east wall. Today, the Regional museum Ptuj-Ormož and the Historical archive Ptuj are found in this monastery.
