Drava Tower
Drava Tower (Ptuj-Slovenia)
The Drava tower, also known as the Mihelič gallery, hosts various art exhibitions. The tower was built in 1551 as a round fortress and is the biggest and only remaining defensive tower built during the Renaissance in Ptuj. It was first built without a roof and served for the production of cannonballs, what is the topic of many legends. The town’s coat of arms was once a part of the Hungarian gates and can be seen on the entrance to the tower. The tower was turned into a museum in 1938. and later to an art gallery, the role it also performs today.
