The Museum of Firefighting was founded in 1994, when the building of the Museum of Croatian Firefighting was constructed, in celebration of the 130th anniversary of the first Croatian voluntary fire service in Varaždin. On the premises of the Museum of around 400 square meters, approximately 1,200 different objects related to the history of firefighting are situated. Fire departments in Varaždin, which was ravaged by fire several times in history, have a long tradition. For a long time, the Varaždin fire station collected archival material which initiated the emergence of museums.
