Fort Galiardo lies in the old town of Rab, with a view on St. Christopher Square. The fortress was built by the Venetians in the 17th century with the aim to defend the city against attacks from the land side. Stone built, now part of the fortress are covered by numerous plant creepers and moss, and in the vicinity there are numerous trees. At the top of the fortress the Croatian flag is situated, and after joining the European Union, the EU flag was placed next to it.
