The Forteca tower is part of the defence system of Korčula. It is an old English fortress with the shape of a truncated cone, which was built on the foundations of the Venetian Tower from 1813, outside the old town of Korčula. The fort is two hundred years old, and in the past it was used as a lookout and promenade for both locals and tourists. It used to be one of the strongest towers in the Adriatic. Unfortunately, over time it lost its strategic function and today it stands abandoned.
