Ganesha and Trimurti Shrine (Bangkok-Thailand)
Ganesha Shrine is located in the center of Bangkok, just outside the Central World Plaza mall. Sometimes known as the Elephant God, Ganesha is a god of achievement, wisdom and wealth, destroying evil and obstacles. He is also son of Shiva, the Destroyer, one of the three supreme deities. The legend says that Parvati, Shiva’s wife, created Ganesha to protect her from Shiva while she was taking a bath. When Shiva was prevented from entering the bathing chamber, he chop off Ganesha’s head in anger. In order to comfort Parvati, he ordered his soldiers to bring the heads of all those who sleep pointed to the north, and they brought the elephant’s head – so the legend of the Elephant God was born. This shrine is one of the most important Hindu sanctuaries in Bangkok and believers come here to pray for success. If You want Your wishes to come true, You need to bring dried fruits (banana, mango, coconut, apples, watermelon …), deserts (khanom tuay fu, thong yip, thong yod …), flowers like Chinese rose and chrysanthemum and 9 scented sticks. Apart from this sanctuary, there is a shrine dedicated to Trimurti, the Holy Trinity, where believers come to pray in search of love. The legend says that those who are here to pray will find their true love and fulfill their dreams. This is also the reason why is this sanctuary sometimes called the Sanctuary of the lovers. Both shrines are very popular, always crowded, and are located in the center of Bangkok.
