Holy Trinity Square (Old town)
Holy Trinity Square was built at the beginning of the 18th century. The original name of the square was Vinski trg (Wine square), since wine was sold on the square to the soldiers and inn keepers. The square was renamed Holy Trinity Square when a votive Holy Trinity monument was erected. In 1729 the widow of the general Petraš, commander of the Osijek fortress had the monument erected to protect the town from plague. The saints on the monument are St. Sebastian, St. Roch, St. Rosalia and St. Katherine. The main and central square of the old town features these baroque buildings: the Military command, the City magistrate building (Museum of Slavonia), the Main Guard building (Archaeological Museum) and others.
