Ivan Crnojević’s Mill (Cetinje-Montenegro)
The mill of Ivan Crnojević is the only material proof of the existence of the river Cetina – the subterranean river that passed through the Cetinje field by the end of the 17th century. It is assumed to have been built at the end of the 15th century by orders of Ivan Crnojević for the needs of the court and the inhabitants of the area today known as Vladičina bašta. It is about 250 meters away from the center of Cetinje. According to some data, at the beginning of the 20th century there were still wheat grind in the mill and mill worked with the help of water that, during heavy rains, sank to the abyss. The mill obtained the status of cultural good in 1950. It is constructed of semi-structured stone blocks that are irregularly arranged, and it is assumed that it has been renovated several times over the years.
