War Cemetery
Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (Kanchanaburi-Thailand)
Probably the most emotional site to visit is this war cemetery. Located near the Kanchanaburi Main Railway Station, it is the final resting place of almost 7,000 prisoners of war that died during the construction of the Death Railway. It has been calculated that 38 people died for each kilometer of the railway, and they were even buried in joint pits along the railway. Today, each individual is paid respect with an individual tomb and peaceful gardens that surround the area. The cemetery also has a memorial that is dedicated to all of the fallen ones.
