The Frankopan castle which was built from the 12th to the 15th century is one of the most significant monuments of the Frankopan family. The area within the walls was intended for citizens and soldiers in case of attacks, so its primary function was the town defence. The castle has a significant value for the military and urban town history. It is located on the Kamplin Square where there are 900 year old stone passages, some of which are used for exhibition purposes. One can explore the town history by watching the inside of the building, by walking on the old walls and imagining scenes of the past.
