Krasae Cave&Bridge (Kanchanaburi-Thailand)
This wooden railway bridge is about an hour-drive from Kanchanaburi and offers a breathtaking view of the river Kwae Noi. Near the railway track is the Krasae cave, the home of numerous war prisoners who participated in the construction of the “Death railway” between 1942 and 1943. Today, there is a statue of a sitting Buddha at this location. Walking on the bridge, You will get an impression of the inhumane conditions, illness and hunger that has carried out the numerous lives of prisoners during the railway construction. Krasae cave and bridge are very popular among tourists because of its history and background story which is, besides the dark period in history of that area, also a tourist attraction.
