Lotrščak Tower
Lotrščak Tower
The Lotrščak Tower’s name was derived from Latin words, meaning “thieves’ bell”, referring to a bell hung in the tower to signal the closing of the town gates. It is not known how it looked in the Middle Ages, but according to the old drawings, the tower seems to have had only two floors with two windows on each floor and a quatrefoil roof. The entrance to the ground floor was on the north side of the tower and there were outside steps leading to the first floor. In the 19th century, the tower changed its appearance, but significant changes were made in 1859. Today, the Lotrščak tower is an integral part of the gallery Klovićevi dvori. On the ground floor of the tower you can visit the Art & gift shop that offers a variety of souvenirs, books and art objects and unique jewellery. We suggest you climb the tower for a sweeping 360-degree view of the city. The tower also features a photo exhibition on Zagreb. On the fourth floor of the Lotrščak tower you can see the Grič cannon, which is fired from the tower every day to mark midday.
