On the main square of the city Omišalj is the Malacological Museum. It is a museum of shells which opened in 2011. It is located next to the church and the collection is exhibited in the regulated area Loggia on the plaza. It is the only collection of shells on the island of Krk. The exhibits are displayed on glass shelves with the specified name and type. The collection has 675 shells, snails, cephalopods and other marine vertebrates and invertebrates such as fish, echinoderms, fossil mollusks, sponges and sea fans. In addition, the collection also includes specimens of protected species such as Pinna, Tonna, Pholas, Charonia, Haliotis and Lobatus.
