Maritime Museum

Do you want to find out what Dubrovnik’s maritime affairs and shipbuilding were like at the very beginning and until the fall of the Republic? Then be sure to visit the fort of St. John and the Maritime Museum on the first floor. There you can see a lot of interesting items from that time. The first exhibitions, entitled “Maritime Routes” and “Dubrovnik over the Centuries”, were held in 1949, when the museum was founded. On the second floor you can see an array of artifacts depicting the maritime industry in Dubrovnik and Pelješac in the 19th century, as well as nautical instruments, ship models from the 17th, 18th and the 19th century, valuable rare books, logbooks, maps and so on. The permanent exhibition portrays the maritime history of Dubrovnik and its surroundings.
