Monastery of St. Francis
The church of St. Francis was built in the 15th century. Then it possessed elements of Gothic, but today, after some editing and modeling, it has the style of the 19th century. In the 16th century the church was enlarged and got a Renaissance chapel. The monastery of St. Francis is composed of a large and a small cloister. The large cloister was used for liturgical celebrations and the burials of locals. Today, on the ground floor of the large cloister is a museum with numerous exhibited samples, among which the special wooden relief of the Virgin and Child stands out. Madonna is the work of Andrea da Murano, and dates back to the the 15th century. In the courtyard of the monastery is a garden with many herbs and olive trees that perfectly complement the Monastery of St. Francis.
