The only cultural institution in Biograd na Moru is this rich museum. Located on the coast, it stores valuable monumental heritage of the rich regional and coastal history. The building that houses the museum, a cultural monument itself, was built out of the ruins of the medieval ramparts in the late 18th and early 19th century. The Regional Museum holds the archaeological and ethnographic collection, the history department, the collection of fine art paintings and the collection “The Treasure of a 16th century Sunken Ship”. Visitors tend to be particularly interested by the last collection, which features a thousand objects taken from a sunken Venetian ship. The ship was sunk in 1583 in the Pašman Channel.
