Old City Market
Old City Market (Zadar)
A real treat for all of the senses in most Dalmatian towns hides precisely in outdoor markets. Zadar market is one of the most picturesque and most colorful ones in the area. Its origin dates back to Middle Ages, but the new one was crated after the World War II. Here, one can find the best quality local products such as olive oil, brandy, cheese or fresh fruit and vegetables that is grown on a fertile land around the Lake Vrana and on the islands of Ugljan and Pašman. There is also butchery and a fish market that offers fresh catch every day, so everything can be bought on one place. This is also one of the biggest open markets in Croatia. The best time for a visit is between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., just do not forget to haggle over the price.
