Pentagonal Tower (Nicolo Lion)
At the beginning of Decumanus Street, in 1447 Nicolo Lion ordered the construction of the Pentagonal Tower. It was built on the foundation of Roman and medieval towers, and its facade contains the famous relief of the Venetian lion. During the 18th century, one residential house was connected to the Tower, and in the 20th century the Tower was covered with dirt and become impassable. The Tower was later used by conservators and archaeologists, but in the end it became a restaurant. The Tower can also be seen from the inside, and there is a terrace from which you can see the Decumanus Street and the lookout over the modern and medieval parts of Poreč called “Fora le porte”.
