The Promenade in Osijek has been adorned with a sculpture of Pablo Picasso since the eighties, and its author is Ivan Sabolić. Pablo Picasso was a superb artist with around 50,000 works of art, of which 1,228 sculptures, 1,885 paintings, thousands of prints, 2,880 ceramic works, tapestries, and he was also the designer of Citroen cars. In addition to being an exceptional artist, Pablo Picasso was the originator of expressionism and cubism, two art movements that revolutionized traditional perspectives in art. His contribution was often the theme of art exhibitions, among which the most notable one was the exhibition in the Louvre in 1971. It was then that Pablo Picasso celebrated his 90th birthday, which made him the first living artist to have his own exhibition in the Louvre. He died in April 1973.
