Plat
Plat (Dalmatia)
Plat is located in Župa Dubrovačka, between Cavtat and Mlini. It is known for its beautiful pebble beach, clean sea and attractive surroundings. In Plat, there are three smaller churches. The votive medieval church of St. John was built on a hill above Plat and next to it was a cemetery. The Church of Velika Gospa, which was built in the 19th century and protected by two big cypress trees, was destroyed during the artillery attacks in the war. Around it, there were several standing tombstones from the 14th and 15th century. In the village of Igrište there is the 16th century Church of the Holy Spirit which has great cultural value. It was built in the Gothic-Renaissance style and has a bell tower with a distaff. In 1965, a hydroelectric power plant was built near Plat.
