Popovac
The village Popovac is first mentioned back in 1214 referred to by its historic name Ban after which the entire Baranja hills is named Bansko hill. Over the centuries, depending on the rule, gets a variety of names such as Bánfalvi, Bankafalu, Baranyaban, and in 1918 was called Popovac. Today’s village began to build in the early 19th century, and during the second World War in this area there was a few labor camps. Today it is still feeling the effects of the Homeland War, but multicultural and multi-religious population still maintains its original identity and tradition.
