Topoljski dunavac or Puškaš was founded 150 years ago when the Austro – Hungarian authorities decided to regulate the flow of Danube. After the flooding and the damage the river caused, a new stream was dug. Topoljski dunavac goes all the way to the border with Hungary, that is, to Draž (on the north and west) and to Gajić and Topolje, which makes the flow go up to 10 km. Various types of fish spawn here. Topoljski dunavac is a natural habitat of waterfowl – what contributes to this is the coast covered with reed, sedge and aquatic plants, as well as its own water depth (5-6 m, 250 ha). The Prussian carp is the dominant type of fish, but you can also find the tench, the perch, the carp, the catfish and many others. A daily fishing permit can be purchased in the village of Topolje, close to the local shop, and there are no catch limits.
