Sai Yok Yai Waterfall (Kanchanaburi-Thailand)

The Sai Yok Yai waterfall is situated near the visitor center area of the National Park. There is also a viewpoint with a great view of the waterfall, which can be accessed via the suspension bridge right next to the waterfall. You can also visit the waterfall by taking a boat ride along the river Kwai. The water is perfect for a refreshing swim to withstand the Thai heat. The Sai Yok Yai waterfall is one of the main tourist attractions in Kanchanaburi, visited by numerous local and foreign tourists throughout the year. This waterfall is best enjoyed during the rainy seasons when the water flow is higher. When visiting this waterfall, pay close attention to Your children, especially during the rainy season.

Tips:

The Sai Yok National Park consists of Sai Yok Noi Waterfall (GPS: 14.23860, 99.05827 (14°14’19.0″N, 99°03’29.8″E)) and Sai Yok Yai Waterfall (GPS: 14.438233, 98.851124 (14°26’17.6″N, 98°51’04.1″E)). The two waterfalls are located 37 km away from each other.
It is best to visit the park during the rainy season, because the water flow is very small during the rest of the year. In the National Park,
You will find bungalows for rent, located along the river Kwai, GPS: 14.433720, 98.851774 (14°26’01.4″N, 98°51’06.4″E). If You like nature You should rent one, sleep in the rainforest, try kayaking and swim in the river Kwai.

The Sai Yok Yai National Park is located around 100 kilometers from Kanchanaburi

    4. Bat Cave 14.433216, 98.862534 (14°25’59.6″N, 98°51’45.1″E), it is located around 800 meters from the entrance to the National Park. There is no ilumination inside the cave, so bring Your own light. You will also find bats in the cave.

    Train:
    You can go to the Sai Yok Yai Waterfall by train from Kanchanaburi, GPS: 14.034079, 99.525680 (14°02’02.7″N, 99°31’32.5″E). The train will take to the last station Nam Tok, GPS: 14.232355, 99.067765 (14°13’56.5″N, 99°04’04.0″E). After that, You will have to find a means of transport because the Sai Yok Yai is 35 km away from here.

-Advice: When You are at the main bus terminal in Kanchanaburi, they will try to persuade You to take a private drive. That option is more expensive, but also more comfortable, because You will have the time to sightsee more attractions such as Sai Yok Noi, Sai Yok Yai and the Hellfire Pass Museum.
Exit the bus after around 2 hours. Show the bus driver our instructions in Thai so that he knows when to tell You to exit the bus.

The bus leaves You at GPS: 14.457072, 98.861159 (14°27’25.5″N, 98°51’40.2″E), You have to walk around 3 km from there to the entrance to the Sai Yok  Yai Waterfall GPS: 14.438220, 98.851200 (14°26’17.6″N, 98°51’04.3″E).

There are usually motorbike taxies to take You to the entrance, but You will have to pay them additionaly.
