Small Roman Theater
The remains of a Roman theater can be found below the Kaštel. The theatre is considered to have been built in the first century of the new era. Pula had two theaters in the past, in addition to the Small Theatre, on the slopes of Monte Zaro you could find another theater, but there are no significant remains regarding that theater. Small Roman Theater was situated within the city walls, and among the remains building’s foundation and parts of the auditorium stand out, which are partly restored. It is believed that at that time the theater could accommodate as many as 5,000 spectators and that the orchestra and actors could fit on the stage. Below the theater, the building of the German grammar school can be found, which was in 1930 taken over by the Archaeological Museum, which preserves the Istrian archaeological monuments from the time of antiquity and the early Middle Ages.
