St. Catherine’s Church
One of Zagreb’s most famous churches is the beautiful baroque church of St. Catherine, which was built in the early 17th century thanks to the Jesuits. The single-nave church was damaged in the 1880 earthquake and took its present appearance according to Herman Bolle’s design. It features six side chapels and a shrine. The chapels are particularly magnificent because of their altars – one of them is a sailor’s altar and the other five are wooden altars made in Baroque style. Inside the church you can see numerous works of art and the gifts of nobility.
