St John Vladimir Temple (Bar-Montenegro)
The construction of the St. John Vladimir temple started in 2002, and today it is the second largest Orthodox temple in Montenegro (the largest temple is in Podgorica). St. Vladimir, also known as Saint John Vladimir, is worshiped not only among Orthodox, but also among Catholics and Muslims in the Balkans. Even during the 12th century he was considered blissful in the Catholic Dukljan Church, as it is said in the evidence by the Chronicle of Pop Dukljanin. Chronicles says that after his execution, his body was transferred to Duklja with the greatest and most generous honor that the Church assigned. The cross at which he was crucified 1000 years ago is kept by the Andrović family from Mikulić near Bara. At the central dome there is a golden cross of almost 5 meters high, and the temple itself is located in the center of Bar.
