St. Mark’s Church

St. Mark’s Church
The Church of St. Mark is one of Zagreb’s oldest and most emblematic buildings. It is located on St. Mark’s Square, which also houses the Croatian parliament. The church is recognizable by its colorful tiled belfry and roof which has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right. This three-nave type church was constructed in the 14th century. In front of it there was a pillory, formerly used for punishment by public humiliation and often further physical abuse. We will let you discover the rest of historical facts on your own and enjoy the beauty of St. Mark’s Church.
