The Church of St Nicholas
Located in the field of Prahulje, the Church of St Nicholas is a recognisable symbol of Nin. It is very important for the history of Croatia and Nin. The Church of Saint Nicholas, which dates from the end of the 11th and the beginning of the 12th century, is the only preserved example of the early-Romanesque architecture of such form in Dalmatia. Due to the danger from the Turks a defense crown was built in the 16th century as an addition to the church. Seven Kings were crowned in Nin. Every crowned ruler rode to the church, and was presented to the people by a symbolic ritual.
