Summer Theater (Cetinje-Montenegro)
The Summer theater in Cetinje is an open scene known for its acoustics. It is about 600 meters away from the center of Cetinje, and was built in 1951. It is located at the foot of Orlov krš. The same year when it was built, in the centenary of Njegošev’s death, the performance of the play “Sćepan mali” was presented. Its present appearance is unique in the area of Montenegro, and with its scene and audience it resembles antique amphitheatres. In the 1980s, after the earthquake that struck Cetinje in 1979, the Summer theater was restored and renewed so that the number of places was increased (until then the capacity was about 2000 seats) and the conditions and quality of this unique theater was improved.
