Slovenia is enriched with one of the most important Jewish monuments, synagogue in Maribor. It is as well one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. It was first mentioned in writing in 1429. In the past, the Talmud school and the Rabbi’s residence were situated near the synagogue. As a cultural monument dating back to the 15th century, the role of this place is the preservation and study of Jewish heritage. This synagogue is often visited by people from all parts of the world, but most of all Israel. Today, it is the place where many concerts, exhibitions, and different kinds of gatherings are held. In 2008, it was even visited by the head rabbi Yona Metzger. It is interesting that this synagogue emphasizes cultural differences and events and therefore stands out as a religious and intercultural link that should be visited.
