The Jesuit Monastery
The Jesuit Monastery
At the end of the 17th century, the Jesuit monastery, in which the Paulines worked after the Jesuits, was built. With the arrival of the Jesuits in Varaždin, a grammar school and Zakmardi’s convent were built, and the construction of a large church and monastery in the style of early Baroque architecture was started. Part of today’s valuable cultural and historical heritage was destroyed during the great fire of 1776. Some things were restored later, and the old wooden buildings were replaced by brick buildings. Today, at the premises of the former Jesuit monastery the Faculty of Organization and Informatics is situated.
