The Marafor Square
The Roman Marafor Square is located in the old part of the town of Poreč, where in the past there was a large Roman shrine, or the temple of Mars, of which today only parts of the stone blocks and pillars remain. In the vicinity of this temple, there was also the temple of Neptune; both ancient temples were built in the 1st century. The Marafor Square was much higher at the time than it is today, but one can still see the remains of the ancient pavement even today. Titus Abudius Vero is the most responsible for this wonderful look of the town of Poreč. He was responsible not only for the construction of new attractions, but also for the reconstruction of the old ones, and he had even built a harbor with a pier and later and moved to Poreč.
