The Sermage Palace
The beautiful Palace Sermage is situated on the Miljenko Stančić Square. The Sermage palace, which prides itself with the combination of two styles, is one of the most recognizable symbols of Varaždin. It was built in the Baroque style around 1684, and around 1759 it was remodeled in the Rococo style. It was originally owned by the Prassinzky family, and then the French noblemen, the Sermages. The facade of the building is adorned with a balcony with wrought iron gates. Since 1947, it has held a permanent exhibition from the Galleries of old and new masters. One of the most valuable painting it contains is Maria im Ährenkleid from the 15th century. The palace was restored in 1981.
