Town Clock
Town Clock
The Clock Tower was built over the Harbour door, which connected the port and the city walls. Numerous written evidence shows that the clock was there before and that numerous repairs were carried out on it, but it is not yet confirmed whether the clock was within the tower or was located elsewhere. Also, before the current clock tower, another tower stood in the same place, but it was redecorated in the middle of the 16th century by Isidore Stošić, the famous Cres builder who made the today’s clock tower. Parts of the tower are the dividing cornice, which separates the first floor, and the lion of St. Mark located in the lower part. Above the cornice is a low roof balustrade around the town bell area.
