Varaždin Cemetery
Varaždin Cemetery
Varaždin cemetery is an unique example of landscape architecture and monuments of nature. It was founded in 1773, and since 1905, thanks to Herman Haller, has began to take its current appearance. It acquired the appearance of a beautiful French park by planting approximately 7,000 plants of cypress, ash, maple, red beech, magnolia, boxwood and birch and by cutting the bushes to geometrical shapes and creating avenues. The cemetery contains many gravestones, tombs and reliefs of great artistic value made by famous Croatian sculptors.
