Wat Tham Mangkon Thong (Kanchanaburi-Thailand)
Tham Mangkon Thong is another cave temple, but with some unique features. Namely, the cave is famous for its deep pool that is used in a performance where a nun meditates while floating in it. This tradition is still carried on – meaning that a new nun takes charge of this practice after the previous one had passed away. The temple also has some Buddha statues and a small museum that displays ancient objects that were found in this area. Before entering this cave temple, visitors will have to walk up the 95 red-colored steps that have carved dragons on each side of the staircase. It is located just 12 kilometers outside Kanchanaburi, on the bank of Mae Klong River.
