Wat Wora Chet Tha Ram (Ayutthaya-Thailand)
Wat Wora Chet Tha Ram is one of the many temples in Ayutthaya built in 1593 in order to honor King Naresuan the Great. 300 years ago, this region was the heart of civilization with over 1,000,000 inhabitants, where many merchants from Asia, the Middle East and other parts of the world gathered. All of the the above stated “perished” in 1767, when the Burmese King attacked and destroyed Ayutthaya. The city has never been restored and is nowadays under the protection of UNESCO. The temple, fortunately, survived the occupation of Ayutthaya. Today, the remains of the temple consist of brick walls, parts of the ubosot or the main hall, vihara or the hall for praying, several statues of Buddha and the bell-shaped stupa.
