Church of St Clare (Kotor-Montenegro)
The Church of St Clare in today’s form dates back to the 18th century, and there is a Franciscan monastery next to the church. The monastery was originally a female Benedictine monastery with the Church of St Bartholomew that was not preserved, and the monastery was handed over to the Franciscans in 1543. The church has a large number of valuable items, and in particular a rich library with a large number of manuscript and old print books, including 44 incunabulaes (books printed up to 1500). The most valuable are the two incunabulaes printed in Venice by Andrija Paldašić and “Brevijar” written in the Franciscan monastery at Gudrić. The church and the monastery have baroque and Renaissance stylistic features.
