Church of our Lady of the Assumption
As evidenced by historical documents, the parish church of our Lady of the Assumption dates from the 11th or 12th century, but there is no information on the exact year of its construction. At first, it was a three-nave building, and over the years it has been upgraded. In the 16th century a large chapel altar was built in the inside of the church. The outside wall is covered with a wooden panel in the middle of which is a picture of the Assumption of Mary with angels. Near the church you can see a bell tower built in the Renaissance style, in 1527, which today houses the Museum of visual identity of Vrbnik. The bell tower is rich in images of Kapare of Vrbnik and statues of the Virgin Mary dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, and other historical artifacts found on the island. In addition to the altar, furniture and old church vessels, the church is adorned with the work of “The Last Supper” from 1599.
