The Bell Tower of the Church of St. Michael
By the monasteries of St. Nicholas and St. Peter there was the female Benedictine monastery of St. Michael. It was located in the western part of Trogir, in the suburb of Pasike. During the Allied bombing in 1944 the monastery and church were destroyed, along with thirty other buildings. Only the bell tower ,which dates from the 16th century, was left untouched. It is adorned by late Renaissance and Gothic motifs. On it there is an inscription which says that after the threat in 1944 the bell tower was renovated in 1952 at the cost of national authorities by master Augustin Bilić and his son.
