Wat Lokayasutha (Ayutthaya-Thailand)
Since the Burmese completely destroyed this temple in 1767, there is a smaill amount that is left of this temple, Nevertheless, there is a good reason for visiting it, due to the fact that You will find an impressive Buddha statue in a laying position. It is 37 meters long, made of bricks and mortar and painted white. The statue is lined along north-south line, head facing west and there is a bright orange cloth that is wrapped around it. Not far away from it, there is a small chedi (pillar) that managed to survive the invasion and it shows an interesting Lanna style on an octagonal base. This site is located directly west of the Royal Palace and traces of historical canals indicate that it used to be a very important monastery. Unfortunately, there is not much known facts about its history.
