Smekja Palace
Smekja Palace (Perast-Montenegro)
The Smekja Palace is located in the coastal part of Perast, near the St Mark Square in the city center, and is one of many palaces in Perast. The palace consists of two parts – the older one was built in 1764, while the newer one dates back to the 30s of the last century. These two parts are connected by a covered passage. Smekja is the largedt palace in Perast and is completely built of stone from the Croatian island Korčula. The Smejka family led to a famous trading venture when the ship “Leon Koronato” contributed to the linking of the Baltic countries with Venice. The palace is built on three floors.Oon the first floor there is a terrace along the entire part, and on the second and third floor are balconies.
