The Church of St. Mark
Located on Andrija Kačić Miošić Square, the co-cathedral of St. Mark the Evangelist was built in 1756. Apart from its amazing exterior adorned with the terracotta-tipped belfry, the church also has a magnificent interior. On the left-hand side there is an altar dedicated to the Mother of God above which there is a small altar of Our Lady of the Rosary and another small altar of the Holy Cross. On the right-hand side there is an altar, which keeps the bones of the patron saint of Makarska, St. Clementine. Even though the Co-Cathedral was badly damaged during the large earthquake in 1962, it was renovated thanks to locals’ donations and contributions. The renovation of the co-cathedral’s interior changed its original appearance.
