The Zoo
The zoo is definitely one of the most interesting parts of the city of Zagreb. The zoo opened its doors in 1925 and is located within the 200 year old Maksimir Park, almost in the city centre, which is why it is a great place for relaxation and leisure. Zagreb Zoo is a 7-hectare zoo, which is home to 2,500 animals representing 280 species from all continents. In the zoo, visitors can see many species of animals – mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates, from all continents. Also, the Zoo participates in many endangered species protection programs, it offers visitors a variety of educational programs, organizes events and provides all information about the animals and nature.
